Health Ministry
Secrets to Longevity Revealed in Denomination's Lifestyle
The Texico Conference Health Ministry mission will strive to demonstrate God’s love by promoting whole person health principles to Adventist church leaders, members and the community at large. Health Ministry will assist people of all ages, gender and ethnicity in reaching their full potential for wholeness and a productive abundant life. Health Ministry is the gospel of Christ illustrated, the message of God practiced. Without it, the gospel witness is muted; it is merely a theory, an idea.
Health Ministry should be practical and useful for the church and the community that we serve. The word of God states "I am the Lord who heals you." Exodus 15:26. The desire of God for every human being is expressed in the words, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." 3 John 1:2
The Seventh-day Adventist health message is both spiritual and practical. Those with clear minds are better able to understand the will of God and those with healthy bodies are a powerful witness of God’s crowning design and creation.
The Adventist health message may best be defined by listing the eight natural remedies God provides: "Pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness, rest, exercise, proper diet, the use of water, trust in divine power – these are the true remedies." (The Ministry of Healing, p.127)
There are several ways to bring health, healing and abundant life to the church and the community. We offer health screening, health seminars, teach simple treatments to be done at home, online resources and connect people with health problems to services available in the church and community.
We must keep in mind that our ultimate goal is to connect people with God. The unlimited source of power which enables them to make changes and become what God intends them to be. The way to carry out this mission is to use Christ’s method.
"Christ's method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, "Follow Me." (The Ministry of Healing, p.143)
The Texico Conference Health Ministry will provide training, mentoring, support and resources to health leaders in the local churches for the development of successful programs in their communities.
